    Frequently asked questions

Is this Word to PDF converter free?

Yes — free, no signup, no watermark. Free use is limited to 5 conversions per day, shared across our upload-based tools.

Do I have to upload my document?

Yes — and the page tells you so before you start. This tool runs on our server, so your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed, and its temporary copy is deleted when the conversion request finishes — we do not keep uploads. Our other tools run entirely in your browser and upload nothing.

Will the PDF look exactly like my document?

Standard documents — headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and images — convert faithfully. Complex layouts can shift a little; if fidelity is critical, check the PDF against your document before sending it on.

Which file types can I convert?

.docx files. Older .doc and OpenDocument formats are on our list for later.

What happens to my file after processing?

It is deleted when the conversion request finishes — we do not keep uploads. If your download is interrupted, the file is already gone: just upload it again (the attempt counts against the daily limit either way).

Is there a file size or page limit?

Files up to 25 MB. Very long documents may take a little longer to convert.

Can I convert a PDF back to Word?

Yes — that is our PDF to Word tool, and the two make a round trip.

    Is the conversion private?

Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, processed on our server, and its temporary copy is removed when the conversion request finishes — it is not shared or used for anything else. For files that must never leave your device, our browser-based tools upload nothing.

Word vs PDF — and when to convert

Here is what each format is for, and when converting Word documents to PDF is the right move.

    What is Word (DOCX)?

DOCX is the editable document format — great for writing, less great for sending: fonts, spacing and layout can look different on every machine that opens it.

    What is PDF?

PDF freezes the layout: the document looks the same everywhere, on every device, which is why it is the standard for sending, printing and archiving.

    When you need it

Convert a Word document to PDF whenever you are sending it rather than editing it — applications, reports, invoices. Layout-sensitive documents benefit most. Standard documents convert faithfully; complex layouts may shift, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.
