What is HEIC?
HEIC keeps your photos small because it uses HEVC compression — the format modern iPhones shoot by default, storing a high-quality image in a fraction of the space a JPG would take.
Keep full quality and transparency from HEIC photos — lossless output, no re-encoding loss.

No files yet. Add your HEIC / HEIF files to get started.
Everything runs on your device. Your HEIC / HEIF files are never uploaded, stored or logged.
Drop your .heic or .heif files onto the page, or click to browse. You can add several at once.
Click Convert. Each file is decoded in your browser and written out as a PNG — nothing is uploaded.
Download each PNG on its own, or download the whole batch as a single ZIP file.
Drop your .heic files here and click Convert. Decoding and PNG encoding both happen in your browser.

No. The page includes a HEIC decoder that runs on your device. Open developer tools, watch the Network tab, and convert a file — no upload request appears.
Yes. They never leave your device, so there is nothing for us to store or lose.
It depends on what you’ll do next. PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, but the file gets much larger. JPG is far smaller and opens everywhere, but it’s lossy and drops transparency. For photos you’ll edit, use PNG. For photos you’ll send or post, use JPG.
PNG is lossless, so the pixels are exactly what the HEIC decoded to — nothing further is thrown away. That said, the HEIC itself was already compressed at capture, so this conversion can’t restore detail the camera never stored.
Yes, usually several times larger than the HEIC. That’s the price of a lossless format. If file size matters, convert to JPG instead.
Yes, PNG supports an alpha channel, so transparent areas survive the conversion.
Yes. Add as many as you like and grab the PNGs together as a ZIP — a single file downloads on its own.
It runs in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, and needs no HEVC codec install. There is no watermark and no signup.
Here is what each format is for, and when converting HEIC photos to PNG is the right move.
What is HEIC?
HEIC keeps your photos small because it uses HEVC compression — the format modern iPhones shoot by default, storing a high-quality image in a fraction of the space a JPG would take.
What is PNG?
PNG takes the opposite approach: it stores the image without discarding data and supports an alpha channel, so nothing is thrown away and transparency survives.
When you need it
Convert HEIC to PNG when you plan to edit the photo further, when you need transparency preserved, or when a print or design pipeline asks for PNG rather than JPG.
